Before first light, trim wick to 1/8 inch. Light votive candle wick.
Let burn a couple of minutes then check your candle flame. When wax
starts melting, it levels out, thus your flame may be higher than is
appropriate for burning in your candle. If the flame is over ½ - ¾
inches high, the wick needs to be slightly trimmed. Extinguish
flame, trim slightly, light the wick again. Check flame height. A
flame that is ½ - ¾ of an inch high, is the perfect flame height for
a candle.
During burning session check flame often. If flame is over 3/4 inch
high, wick needs to be trimmed. Extinguish flame, trim wick and
relight candle. Candle wicks are not self trimming and must be
trimmed during your burning session! This is imperative.
If wicks are not trimmed and flame is too high, it is very unsafe.
Always burn votive in tight fitting heat resistant container.
Always burn on a heat resistant surface.
